Introduction to Printing

Traditionally block printing began in the 18th century in Rajastan in Northern India, and were carved from wood. It was used as a method of transferring a design onto fabric using printing ink or dyes. Now there are many ways to create block prints, Rubber, lino, foam and even potatoes!
In this workshop we will be experimenting with simple rubber and foam blocks
In this 3 hour class you will learn to print your own fabric samples using your own hand made print blocks and create a range of patterns in different colours and combinations .
You will learn to use different layouts to achieve a variety of designs using the same blocks and will be given a detailed handout to continue your experiments at home.
The class is suitable for beginners and all materials are provided .
Please bring an apron or old clothes so that you can enjoy the class fully!
